stain

The plywood facing is birch. Here I've stained it with a natural stain and varnished it. By prefinishing it before putting the trim on, which I will stain darker, I can keep the colors seperate eaiser.

boards

I got talked into Sycamore at Klingspour's

grain

But it's a really pretty wood, this is going to look nice.

Driveway shop

Here we are set up for a sun burn the day after Meorial Day. With a helper who loves to suck up saw dusk and thinks wearing saftey glasses is cool how can one go wrong?

Set up for cutting 1.5 " peices

rabbet

After planning and surfacing the trim boards I cut a 1x.5 inch rabbet out

trim shaped

Then I rounded over the outside corners and ran a Roman Ogee bit down the leading exge for that fancy look.

Then we mitered all the trim and glued it on with a brad here and there for support.

hole template

I made a template for the holes, and drilled them

corner

Looks nice, only had touse wood putty in one place less the brad hole cover ups.

taped

We'll be able to clean up the excess dark stain since the plywood is alreayd finished, but it will be much eaiser if we minimize what gets on there.

stained

And there we are
