stain The plywood facing is birch. Here I've stained it with a natural stain and varnished it. By prefinishing it before putting the trim on, which I will stain darker, I can keep the colors seperate eaiser. |

rabbet After planning and surfacing the trim boards I cut a 1x.5 inch rabbet out |

trim shaped Then I rounded over the outside corners and ran a Roman Ogee bit down the leading exge for that fancy look. |
trim installed Then we mitered all the trim and glued it on with a brad here and there for support. |

taped We'll be able to clean up the excess dark stain since the plywood is alreayd finished, but it will be much eaiser if we minimize what gets on there. |
